Thanks guys. The internal volume is 9.25 ft3 - 9 was the target and I added the .25 as a guess at the back volume of the driver.

A word of caution. the 604-8K is a different animal than the 604-8G, and will require a smaller enclosure. It won't be at all right in a 9ft3 box.

Yes Frs, I put 1 1/2" pink insulation on opposing walls in there - didn't include the "inside" picture on the webpage.

I don't know if the 604-8k is truly all that different; there seems to be a disagreement in the T/S numbers.

Available elswhere, the numbers would indicate an optimum enclosure around 2 cu'.

On the Unofficial Altec site, is a 5 page pamplet on the 604-8k, and if you run it's T/S numbers, you come up with a 6.5 cu' enclosure as optimum.

My 8k's, at least, sounded less than great in a 2.5 cu' enclosure. I have them now in some "test enclosures" (read NO WAF) that are about 9cu', and they sound very good.

Were there 2 sets of 8k's with different specs', or are one set of numbers wrong???

The Unofficial Homepage numbers should be the most accurate. The last 604-8K spec I saw packed with a driver listed Qts as .9287 and Vas as 18ft3!
